More commonly called “Castellaro“, its structure derives from the ancient defence towers that were developed by the noble families in the Middle Ages to protect their home and the surrounding area.

Like other similar buildings, which were quite numerous in the area, it still bears witness to its ancient function as a defence tower. It is thought to have been used as an observation place, to defend the bishop’s castle above, and mainly because of its dominant position on the road leading to Villaga.
